Building a Resort in Phu Quoc is not exactly a walk in the park!

When you ask the question "Can you do this?" and the answer is “Yes”, yes does not mean the same thing it would in any other part of the world!  It can mean:

No!
I have no idea what your talking about!
You want to go drinking.
I'm going to have the day off thank you!
I have a small idea what you are on about.
Yes I fully understand but I am going to do it my way anyway.
Or simply yes.

Once you know the rules of how it works the trick is to keep a close eye on the progress and guide the local expert craftsmen, who are used to doing things their own way, and make use of their unique and considerable talents in the best way possible. We have an amazing team of guys who always do their best what ever they are asked to do. Sometimes this combination of miss understanding and individual flair produces amazing results even if its not exactly what we where expecting!

If you look through the pictures you will see that it starts with us pasty pale skinned idiots clearing the land... for all of about 3 hours then realizing that it was far too hot and a beer was obviously in order.  At which point we promptly hired some local guys to do the rest for us for the price of another few beers!  The pictures then continue on through the build to the point where we are at today, more or less depending on if we have got around to uploading the latest batch of photos.

So far, the building has taken about 8 months and about 16,000 beers, not to mention the local rum! Recently we have been increasingly held up by the rainy season as we are relying on boats to bring in materials from the mainland.  But check back again soon as we will keep posting as the building progresses.
